Anyway we pretty much just drove all day with Mike steering the ship and Laura tried her best to stay awake (but failed once or twice). Once again we got to see the landscape change, this time from high desert to snowy mountain passes to the prairie and, as always, got a bunch of photos.
Outside of our tent right now is a beautiful clear sky with more stars than either of us believe we have seen before. It is cold as heck but we're staying warm under our down sleeping bags and speaking of, it is about time to hit the hay for us so this will have to be a short-ish entry.
Pictures soon.

Kansas?
Pretty amazing that you've gone through Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and Kansas so far. That caused me to look at a map of the lower 48 and anticipate some commentary about what crossing the Mississipi will feel like from a west to east travel perspective.
Never heard of the Commanche National Grassland until I read about it and googled up the notice that the Lesser Prarie Chicken Viewing Area was closed.

Soooo awesome sounding. I am very jealous right now. But I am getting all sorts of ideas for future trips. Someday Andrew and I will get some gear and try some real camping. I want to see STARS!
